ARCHITECTURAL MILLWORK ~ CABINETRY
ABOUT US
What we do and how we do it differently:

FINWERKS is a custom architectural millwork and cabinetry company. However, our vision and approach does not fit in with the current conventions of the industry. From the very beginning we set out to put an emphasis on a different point of view to our design and engineering process, capitalizing on two of our greatest strengths.
This manifests itself in two distinct ways. On a commercial level, where most view the drawing and submittal stage as only an action to get the approval from the designers necessary to begin the engineering and production processes, our work is engineered to be built from the start. We develop working shop drawings for review. Producing a concise submittal that has taken into account all of our resources, abilities, and balancing our production needs with a project’s design intent, complexities, and time constraints. Never is the engineering process left until halfway through a project in any given builder’s hands on the shop floor. As a result, the client sees a more accurate depiction of the product that they will be receiving, and it allows us to take full advantage of the technology at our hands to balance our workload and increase our accuracy and efficiency, directly benefiting our client.
On custom work, we only vary our methods above by working directly with a client to develop complete design to satisfy the project’s specifications. This is a more ground up approach, but the same key engineering factors are at play. We don’t discount the “can it be built” and “can it be built on budget” when proposing solutions to their unique situation. When our client sees a design that we conceive, they see exactly what can be built.
You could say we have a finer appreciation for the harmony between the design/engineering and the production side of the equation. This philosophy not only leads to a smoother production flow, but it connects the engineers and the builders more seamlessly on a team level.

WHAT'S IN A NAME?
-fin- (Latin) noun: "end” or “complete”

In the context of what we do, we are typically associated with the conclusion of a greater project; our work often signifies the final pieces of the puzzle, capping a cohesive design theme and bringing everything to a FINe conclusion.

-werk, or werks- (old English) noun: “work” or “works”
A place for manufacturing or the product which is produced by a factory. Even with a modern approach, utilizing cutting edge technologies, the time honored principles and skills of woodworking still endure, and thus WERKS is our nod to the rich history of our craft.
